Walk More

So get out there and walk, run, jog or engage in a sports activity that keeps you in constant motion for at least 20 minutes every day.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is known to be linked to the circulatory system. The less you have then the higher your blood pressure will be. Increasing your vitamin D intake will not only improve your chances of not getting any cardiovascular disease but will also to decrease the risk of getting many forms of cancer.

One way to get more vitamin D is sunlight. 20 minutes of sun gives you a beneficial amount of vitamin D. (remember that brisk 30 minute walk… done and done) Supplements are also a possibility, though you may not get full benefits from these supplements. It is far better to get your vitamin D from foods that contain it. (fish oils are great for it)

Garlic

Garlic, it is not just for warding off vampires anymore. Garlic has been proven to be a truly wonderful herb. It has a few positive effects on lowering your hypertension. The primary effect is to widen the arteries. By widening the arteries, it decreases the pressure on the artery walls, thereby lowering blood pressure.

Fiber

This does not have a direct link to blood pressure. It will lower your cholesterol, though. Lowering your cholesterol will improve your cardiovascular system, which is exactly what you are aiming for.

Breathing

There are a series of deep breathing exercises that you can do that have a positive effect lowering hypertension. Yoga and other “deep breathing types of classes work great. But you do not have to sit in a class contemplating your naval. If you learn the exercises, even sitting at your desk you can practice deep breathing, lower your blood pressure and lower your stress at the same time.
